Arielle Lichter takes artistic swimming from pool to world stage
(WSYX) — 13-year-old Arielle Lichter is not named after the Disney princess. Yet, this little mermaid loves the water and makes the pool her stage.
"I chose like synchronized swimming because I feel like you can just be more creative," said Arielle.
Arielle grew up competing in speed swimming and dance. She combined her two loves by taking up artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronized swimming. She joined the Lakes Mermaid Artistic Swimming Club in Westerville seven years ago.
"It's like really cool because it like looks so easy and stuff, but then you're holding your breath, and it's really hard at the same time," said Arielle.
